Jurassic World Movie Review : All good and bad.
Jurassic World, after a decade into making and having a long
planned marketing by masraniglobal.com about the movie, which led us to believe
that this year’s summer movie will be a blockbuster just popped itself like a
balloon.
The movie states that John Hammond, the previous owner of the
Jurassic Park died and now we have Simon Masrani (Irrfan khan) on the chair who
opened the park again, this time superior and meets the internet age. It’s not
a reboot, the previous three movies still happened and they did not explain how
after the devastating events of bloodshed, the government allowed to open this
park and people still visits? How does that happen?
Now, the plot, Claire played by Bryce Dallas Howard works in the island who happened to have her two nephews around
to see the island and enjoy dinosaurs. Owen played by Chris Pratt trains
Velociraptors like a german shepherd, yeah throw the logic out of window. Now Claire
is busy in impressing the corporate guys about this new dinosaur they made
which is a hybrid and consists different qualities from different dinosaurs in
the sake to make something bigger, scarier and cooler called Indominus Rex
because a simple dinosaur isn’t cool anymore.
Everybody knows from the trailers
that this Indominus Rex lose out into the field and there you have your movie.
Claire hires Owen to control the Indominus Rex and we have to watch the entire
movie with same plot we have seen in other monster movies.
There are some enjoyable moments in
this movie. It had me on the edge of my seat for many action scenes, but that’s
what you get from a monster movie. Be as it may, Jurassic Park was more than
just a monster movie. But this movie is just an old writer script sold to us
with enough comedy wrapped dialogues so that we don’t ask the main question.
How can Raptors be suddenly be trained by a human? How Simon Masrani got the
government to allow it?
Well the characters we got were all cliché,
Claire is an uptight Manager. Owen, the protagonist is a badass, punch-on-a-face
guy. Vincent D'Onofrio is a head of security operations who wants to weaponize
the dinosaurs. The brother-brother relation was very cheesy and out of context.
The unimportant characters die in the movie and nobody pauses for a while to
take it in ( yeah there are dinosaurs behind them so they don’t have time) but
still, a character expansion should be taken seriously and portrayed smartly.
Even the dinosaurs, some of the raptors had personality in them.
The end of a movie was just plain dispassionate.
There was no building of efforts to match the enemy to take him down. In the
end it was just claws and teeth trying to get the characters and they had to
run about to get shelter. If you want to see a monster movie? Yeah this is
good. If you want to see Jurassic Park movie then it’s a disappointment (about
60 percent).
Overall, This is a fun movie if you wipe your brain out from previous Steven Spielberg masterpieces.
