INTERNET.ORG Finds it's place in INDIA: FACEBOOK'S VISION OF CONNECTING WORLD
So the realm of internet has started and it is the Internet.org coming to India, a venture by Facebook to bring cheap, fast, reliable and sustainable connectivity in the rural areas .
According to the report of THE NEW YORK TIMES, a metal tower on a local rooftop was established and to what is now the need of the hour: INTERNET via Wi-Fi. Communication and connecting people has always been a vision by MARK ZUCKERBERG and it seems to be working at a whooping speed. Earlier this year, meetings with the India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been a boosting element of this whole scenario of cutting edge technology in rural areas. The service is launched under the name of Express Wi-Fi focusing on nearly 5000 people per sector of a antenna.
With the local operators seem unreliable and low quality services despite moderately high charges, the city of Narendra Nagar has been bathed in high-speed Wi-Fi. At merely $1-$5 charges, one can access upto 20 GB of data at high speed and one can connect the city in the mountains with the city in the west. Facebook has joined a venture with the AirJaldi, a local provider of internet services in these areas to set up more towers and communication breaking bariers. So we can conclude that Facebook will provide the technical aliment while the serving authorities will be benefited as they will increase their range of influence.
As Facebook is becoming a household name in India, it is easy to brand under it's umbrella. The mindset is like they don't know what internet is but they are aware of Facebook. A kid is like a teacher of social media to his parents. Earlier a mobile and now a big screen has become a the changing scenario. WhatsApp, under the parent company Facebook, is also being used as an alternative to calling facilities.
Pros:
Since the Wi-Fi is deliberately being introduced in the rural region, we will have a data flow of education, widening horizon of the mindset of rural people, more technical research in the area of communication field in hilly terrain and a secure network in the border areas.
The migration from hilly terrain will halt and we will see more entrepreneurs popping up from these villages and who knows among them is next Sunder Pichai.
From telephone,to TV and now the Internet, the revolution is here.
