Assassin's Creed Syndicate PS4 First Impressions | Review and News | Story, Performance, Graphics and more.
For newcomers to the series I would always suggest AC
1-2, but if you want a graphically better one with more modern setting
this game will be perfect.
The first thing that I noticed about
the game is that, it felt like an Assassins Creed game. Yep this one is
the closest one to AC2 which we all loved. I liked the fact that Jacob
and Evie are already established as grown up assassins. We don't run
behind some small girl, play as a Templar or start stranded an island, we
do what assassins do - we go and kill. Straight into action without all
the drama , YES !
Story and setting - so far starts well, in
fact more precisely the setting is really good. I instantly started to
like both Evie and Jacob as assassins. The game does a good job of
distinguishing them both right from the animations. London is very
lively, with colorful buildings, trees, bustling streets.
Game play - Lots of changes here ! Finally they have added a standard
mechanic that is the core of every stealth game - crouch. Yes we can
finally crouch at any time !! The first two missions are purely stealth
playgrounds which i loved so much.
The parkour is more smooth, there
are no comedy moves like in AC Unity (rotating every time when we climb
a ledge). Feels more smooth and fun to do. Combat is good as they have
advertised, more arcade style and free flowing. Another thing fixed that
was boring - more than 1 enemy attacks you at same time. That combined
with the smoother combat, makes it fun.Another welcoming thing is the
individual skill set for Jacob and Evie. We can switch between them
anytime, although missions are separate for them. Carriages are fun way
to travel, but ramming other carriages with them, destroying everything
on the way.. i am not a fan of those. The music is also fresh and suits
the game play.
But there are sure some negatives here. Some times
the pathing feels weird, especially indoors. The AI as expected is dumb
at times.
Graphics & Performance - The first thing I noticed
is the lighting and shadows, they are really good. Gives the feel of the
industrial city ery well. But.. the textures are not up-to the mark, and
poor textures can be seen in many places. The plus side of that though,
is the smoother frame rate. Never experienced a big stutter till now,
just 1 or 2 pathing glitches and a very minor stutter when driving in a
carriage. The day one patch was ~ 500 mb, I think this shows the
confidence of the devs. Contrary to what I expected, the lip sync is
really good with all characters, which makes the already good dialogues
more fun to see and hear.
So far the things i most hate - same character models everywhere, AI can be so dumb at times.
Those wondering about the micro transactions, its almost non-existent.
There are no popups on the screen telling you to buy them, no content is
locked. Its just for XP boost to get skills soon, crafting materials,
weapons.Overall the game never feels boring, and as I had said..
finally after a long time i felt like playing an Assassin's Creed game.
Looks to be a very promising game with memorable city and
protagonists.Thank you Ubisoft Quebec, and a big salute for cutting any
multiplayer-online related portion completely from the game.
