COP CAR Review (Possible Spoilers) duh!

Cop Car is a thriller film directed by Jon Watts. The film premiered at the Sundane Film Festival on January 24, 2015. The said director is also going to direct Marvel’s Spider-man reboot in 2017. After watching this film, I feel confident in the new reboot.

The movie is about two runaway kids and an exceedingly corrupt cop and what connects these three is the car. I very much enjoyed the film, probably one of the best thrillers of this year and I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets nominated for numerous accolades. I, for one, will definitely rooting for it to win some.

The film starts slowly yet elegantly, the first appearances of the characters throughout the film is original and magnificent, still it doesn’t have a lot of characters and that’s probably why the character development is just brilliant. Kevin Bacon portrays as the corrupt cop and you can tell the roll was particularly written for him. The two boys did a marvelous work, it didn’t seem like they were acting, their scenes were greatly convincing, like we see on found footage.

Throughout the film, the circumstances persuades you to root for the different characters, the characters are reasonably realistic. The boys are amazingly, well, stupid and slightly likable but their innocence demands you to root for them. Kevin Bacon’s cop is surprisingly eccentric, witty and corrupt yet likable.

There are certain various elements that makes this film work and works well on many levels. The direction was good, really good. The thing most amazed me was the exception of clichéd flashbacks, no flashbacks, whatsoever. In general, this kind of story and screenplay would definitely require flashbacks but the direction and editing was so remarkable, it didn’t.

The screenplay was somewhat like Breaking Bad’s and it worked so well. The locations were too, I was hoping I might see Walter White with a hat or at-least the cooking RV.
The dialogues were short and significant. And yet, this movie is already underrated, not many people went to see this one but I sincerely hope people will buy the Blu-ray or at least download it illegally.
